Please note: Guidance may have changed since this blog post was published. Please click here for the most current information.

Do you live in AHFC public housing? Have you experienced pandemic-related hardship that has impacted your ability to pay rent? You've come to the right place! Review the information below to see if you are eligible for temporary eviction bans, to learn about AHFC's rent relief program and other financial resources, and to find out what specific steps you should take to keep your housing secure.

Will I be Evicted?

In compliance with the eviction moratorium enacted through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, AHFC will not evict residents for nonpayment of rent if they are experiencing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19. This temporary eviction ban will last through December 31, 2020. However, AHFC will continue to notify residents of overdue rent balances and residents that fail to comply with the terms of their lease agreement or other rules may still be subject to eviction.

What Should I Do if I Can't Pay Rent?

We are encouraging renters to pay what they can toward rent or to contact their local AHFC office to arrange other payment methods. Click here for housing office locations and contact information. In addition, we have implemented a special hardship process to provide immediate rent relief to our families affected by income loss due to COVID-19. You may be eligible for AHFC's Safety Net program and we encourage you to apply.

Will I Need to Catch Up on Unpaid Rent?

Yes. Although AHFC is not going forward with evictions for those who are experiencing a financial hardship as a result of COVID-19, this does not mean that you don't have to pay rent, or that you won't have to catch up on unpaid rent. Click the link below for helpful advice on how to make paying rent a priority, now and in the future.
