2025: Our Year in Stories
As we close out 2025 and look forward to a new year, we are reflecting on the incredible Alaskans we had the privilege to feature this year and the stories they shared.
We spoke with partners across the state who work to help our neighbors facing homelessness. We featured Alaskans who didn't think that buying a home was in the cards for them until a supportive community helped them find their path to homeownership. We interviewed an energy rater who helps Alaskans around the state enjoy safer, more energy efficient homes. And we highlighted employees who came from different backgrounds before finding a meaningful career at AHFC but who are all driven by the same shared mission.

1. AHFC employees are mission-focused on providing Alaskans access to safe, quality, affordable housing. In the Facilities Management department this includes thinking ahead and ensuring preventative measures are in place to keep public housing residents safe during extreme weather.
2. Through partnerships with local organizations like the Sitka Homeless Coalition, AHFC’s innovative Housing Stabilization and Recovery is taking a holistic approach to helping Alaskans experiencing homelessness.
3. A case manager for AHFC's Jumpstart, Michael is driven by a passion for helping others.
4. Responsible for helping the public at AHFC’s Anchorage headquarters as well as managing the mail room and the front desk team, Tre is a key player in the daily behind-the-scenes operations of Alaska Housing.
5. At Chugach Manor, Patty has found a safe, quality, and affordable space where she can grow old in Alaska, the place she calls home.
6. After serving as director of the internal audit team for more than 30 years, Kevin Tune has gained unique insight into Alaska Housing.
7. Stephen says his internship has provided opportunities to learn, make connections and contribute his time and energy to a mission he believes in – providing Alaskans access to safe, quality, affordable housing.
8. For Alex Twogood, building and adapting housing for Alaska’s unique climates is a family legacy that has evolved alongside new research and innovations.
9. As the Servicing Officer at AHFC, Sheena brings fresh, innovative ideas into the mortgage department and focuses on building an independent, competent and cohesive team.
10. The journey to homeownership is unique for everyone. For Amanda, it was based around community.
11. While Audrey's homebuying process wasn’t simple, she found that expert insights helped her move forward with confidence and make her dream a reality.
12. Adaptability has been the key to Patrick’s success as he grows his career and follows his interests at AHFC.
