Adapting to the Business of the Day

Tre, Front Desk Supervisor at Alaska Housing Finance Corporation, has a superpower: Adaptability.

Responsible for all incoming public calls at AHFC’s Anchorage headquarters, as well as managing the mailroom and the front desk team, Tre is a key player in the daily behind-the-scenes operations of Alaska Housing.

On any given day, he can be seen moving quickly between the front desk and the mailroom, oftentimes talking on the phone to clients while supporting staff who operate the public-facing operations of the office.

“We're a resource for the public,” Tre says. “When the public calls, we have to be able to guide them to which department, if there's a department or a program that exists. If not, that call comes to me and I do the best that I can … to guide them somewhere that'll be able to help.”

With a can-do attitude, Tre is well known as someone who is willing to go above and beyond.

Army, Alaska and Adaptation

Tre was born in Los Angeles and later joined the Army, following in the footsteps of his grandfather who served in World War II.

This decision brought him to Alaska.  At the end of his first tour, Tre was stationed in Anchorage and, after leaving the military, decided to stay in Alaska. “I’m here because of clean water and fresh air,” he says.

His career since has been filled with adventure – from almost being blown into the ocean while building a school in Adak to working the “slime line” in a Bristol Bay cannery.

Tre’s journey has required adaptability, resilience, hard work and consistency. After decades working and travelling around Alaska, he brought these attributes to AHFC, using his conversational skills to connect Alaskans to housing resources.

Above and Beyond

Tre recently celebrated his two-year anniversary at AHFC. When talking about why he enjoys working for AHFC, he shared,

"It's about doing the most good...helping people to get on their feet and achieve the American dream of owning a home."

An employee shared that Tre’s diligence and hard work is seen by many.

“Through [Tre’s] ambition to learn and his constant adaptability, he embodies a dedicated leader. His commitment to AHFC is visible each and every day…He is always willing to go above and beyond for people.”

Thank you, Tre for all of your support and hard work helping Alaskans access safe, quality, and affordable housing
