Teacher, Health Professional and Public Safety Housing Program (THHP)

The Alaska Housing Finance Corporation is opening registration for the Teacher, Health Professional, and Public Safety Housing Grant Program. Non-profits, state or local government entities, tribal entities, health corporations, school districts, and public safety entities are eligible to apply.  Under this program, competitive funding may be available for new construction, rehabilitation, or acquisition of public service professional rental housing in small communities. The program aims to provide grant funding to fill the gap between a project’s capacity to carry debt and the total development cost of the project, given reasonable expenses for the project.

Application for THHP funds is a two-step process: 

Step 1: Interested parties will need to submit a registration form to AHFC for access to the online application.  Registrations must be submitted to AHFC no later than 5:00 PM AKST Friday July 23, 2021. Registration forms are available for download from the THHP information webpage at https://www.ahfc.us/pros/homelessness/development-grants/thhp. Email completed registration to rmattingly@ahfc.us.

Step 2:  The application for the Teacher, Health Professional, and Public Safety Housing Grant Program competitive process begins July 28, 2021 and ends October 15, 2021 at 5:00PM AKST. Information regarding the application process, funding amounts and scheduled training(s) is available online at https://www.ahfc.us/pros/homelessness/development-grants/thhp; however, only applications submitted through AHFC’s online application system will be accepted for review.    

Submissions after stated deadlines will NOT be considered for SFY 2022 THHP funding.

Program funding and applicant maximum request limitations are subject to change based on availability of funds.

All entities wishing to submit an Application must submit registration requests for access to the online application system according to this announcement no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 23, 2021.

 

SFY 2022 HOMEOWNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM NOTICE OF FUNDING AVAILABILITY

Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) is pleased to announce the SFY 2022 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the Homeownership Development Program (HDP). Under this NOFA, AHFC will make up to $1,000,000 in grants through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development available for competitive allocation to qualifying nonprofit organizations.

Application for HDP funding is a two (2) step process.  Applicants must (1) register for the online application system by submitting a Notice of Intent to Apply form, and (2) submit an Application using the online application system.  The Notice of Intent to Apply/Registration form is available at the following website: http://www.ahfc.us/pros/grants/service-assistance-grants/homeownership-development-program-hop/

Step (1):  To submit Applications through the online system, AHFC must first receive a Notice of Intent to Apply/Registration Form by 4:30 p.m. (AKST) on July 22, 2021.  Email Notice of Intent to Apply forms to Regan Mattingly at rmattingly@ahfc.us.

Step (2):  Completed Applications must be submitted through the online application system by October 1, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. (AKST).

Telefax or hard copy forms will not be accepted.  Forms delivered to an incorrect AHFC address or received after the deadline will not be eligible to apply and will not be considered for funding. 

Successful HDP grantees will use funds for real property acquisition and site improvements for new construction of permanent single family housing.  

Eligible applicants include only participants in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s 523 Self-Help Homeownership Program, AHFC-certified Community Housing Development Organizations, Community Land Trusts, and Habitat for Humanity organizations.  Funds can only be used for eligible projects outside of the Municipality of Anchorage.

This is not a solicitation for individual homeowners.  Interested homeowners must apply directly to selected grantees for funding assistance and eligibility approval.
