Giving Kids the Gift of Summer Camps

Youth Summer Camp & Activity Scholarships Large 3

Whether they’re splashing in a pool, learning to make great works of art, or playing their favorite sport, kids can benefit from participating in summer camps.

For more than a decade, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation has been helping kids have access to camps. The Alaska Housing Youth Summer Camp and Activity Scholarship provides up to $500 to help pay for camp fees.

Kids between the ages of 6- and 17-years-old, who reside in an assisted rental unit owned by AHFC or who receive assistance through an AHFC housing voucher are eligible to apply.

“She definitely gained the socialization she's been craving. She also learned how to be a great artist! Without the scholarship, she wouldn’t have been able to attend.”

— Laura, mother of a Youth Summer Camp and Activity Scholarship recipient

“Any of these young Alaskans who are receiving AHFC housing assistance can attend a summer camp, take part in an activity, an enrichment opportunity or participate in a sport of their choosing. We want to meet the kids where they’re at, and give them the opportunity that fits their interest.”

– Mandi Manning, AHFC Resident Services Manager for Public Housing
