Alaska Housing Finance Corporation Working Closely With Community Leaders On Typhoon Halong Disaster Response

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — October 21, 2025 — “Alaska Housing Finance Corporation stands with our neighbors across Western Alaska — the individuals, families and communities — who have been impacted by Typhoon Halong. Our hearts are with every Alaskan experiencing loss or displacement in the wake of this disaster.

We recognize that the need for housing and the path to long-term recovery will require strong coordination across local, tribal, state, and federal partners. While others are necessarily responding to the immediate disaster and Alaskans’ most critical needs, AHFC is actively assessing its available public housing and other resources throughout communities statewide, and we’re participating in conversations with emergency response teams, community leaders, and regional housing authorities to identify both mid-term solutions and longer-term housing strategies.

The most immediate action households and survivors affected by the October West Coast Disaster can take is to register for the State of Alaska Individual Assistance Program by calling 1-844-445-7131 or visiting https://ready.alaska.gov/ia.

AHFC will share updates as additional housing and recovery programs become available. Information about resources and how to support those in need of housing are being collected and shared on AHFC’s dedicated web page, Resources for Alaskans Displaced By Typhoon Halong & How To Help.

Alaskans have always met hardship with strength and cooperation. Together, we will ensure that no one faces this recovery alone.”
