Unlocking Energy Opportunities for Alaska
In May, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation leadership attended Governor Dunleavy’s third annual Alaska Sustainable Energy Conference in Anchorage. Experts, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, investors and researchers from across the energy spectrum gathered to discuss renewable energy advancements and the future of many of Alaska’s industries.
During the conference, Governor Dunleavy invited legislators and community representatives, including AHFC CEO/Executive Director Bryan Butcher, to join him on stage as he discussed three energy bills passed by the 33rd Alaska Legislature.
Governor Dunleavy thanked the legislators saying, “Alaska won because of the work they did.”
House Bill 273
One bill, House Bill 273, permits Alaska Housing Finance Corporation to create a subsidiary to assist in the financing of sustainable energy development for the benefit of the general public.
“It will unlock tens of millions of federal dollars from the Inflation Reduction Act,” Governor Dunleavy said. “Creation of this fund will help Alaskans compete for historic federal funding opportunities to improve the energy profile of their homes and businesses.”
The Governor expressed confidence in the ability of the legislature to continue to do work that can help transform the state.
“What happened this year bodes well for next year and the year after, with regard to our ability to work together to get some important bills passed,” he said.
