Putting Alaska Homeowners First

True to its mission of providing access to safe, quality, affordable housing, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation is putting Alaskans first when distributing federal assistance funds to eligible homeowners.

Early in the development process of Alaska Housing Homeowner Assistance, AHFC identified its number one priority: Keep as many Alaskans in their homes as possible.

For AHFC, that meant looking at the needs of the state as a whole and focusing efforts on fair and responsible distribution options to best maximize funds for all Alaska homeowners in need. The decision was focused on people and designed to achieve the greatest statewide economic impact.

Alaska was one of the first states to submit a plan to U.S. Treasury for distributing Homeowner Assistance Funds. AHFC’s active pre-planning allowed Homeowner Assistance efforts to take place quickly and efficiently upon approval from U.S. Treasury.

AHFC’s extensive relationships with Mortgage Servicers have been pivotal in the effort. The strong rapport provided a pathway to encourage Mortgage Servicers to work with borrowers quickly, emphasizing the importance of shortening deferral times and moving eligible applicants through into the program.
