Rental Evictions Barred Through March 31

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a statement extending the original moratorium on rental evictions through March 31, 2021.

The Alaska Housing Relief website provides renters with information on the current state of eviction moratoriums, helps renters understand their responsibilities as tenants, and clarifies the eviction process.

Upcoming Emergency Rental Assistance

While the CDC extension order does not cancel or freeze rent, recent COVID-19 legislation does include significant funding earmarked for rent relief. AHFC will be administering federally-funded Emergency Rental Assistance for eligible Alaskans who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. Sign up to be notified of rent relief funds availability.

Foreclosures on Federally-Backed Mortgages Barred Through June 30

Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) announced an extension of the moratorium on eviction and foreclosure on federally-backed single family mortgages through June 30, 2021. You should check with your mortgage servicer to see if the moratorium applies to your mortgage or to request forbearance. Depending on the kind of loan you have, there may be different options.
