Homebuyer Education Courses Reach Milestones

Alaska Housing’s Homebuyer Education programs have been helping Alaskans better understand the process of buying a home for years.

This spring, our two education courses – Finally Home! and HomeChoice™ – celebrated important anniversaries.

About Homebuyer Education Courses 

Finally Home! and HomeChoice™ are free homebuyer education courses that provide useful information to individuals considering purchasing a home. While the majority of participants are first-time homebuyers, the courses can also benefit anyone who is currently thinking about buying.

Finally Home! is an online home study program that can be completed at the participants’ own pace. While more than a quarter of participants completed Finally Home! in one day, on average it took 14 days to finish the course.

HomeChoice™ is an instructor-led class that began being taught via webinar during the COVID-19 pandemic. The 6-hour course is taught over three days. Click here to see a schedule of available HomeChoice™ webinars.

Participant Feedback

Participants learn about a variety of topics, ranging from how to shop for a lender and real estate professional, to understanding home inspections. The classes have been shown to help people be better prepared for purchasing a home.
