Free COVID-19 Tests Available For Alaskans

Vaccines are being administered throughout Alaska, but experts anticipate most Alaskans will not be able to get vaccinated for several more months. The best way to keep our families safe is to remain vigilant and continue to take precautions. An important part of that vigilance is getting a COVID-19 test to ensure you are not spreading the virus to your friends, neighbors and loved ones.
Who Should Get A COVID-19 Test?
If you have COVID-19 symptoms, the first thing you should do is isolate yourself. Then call your doctor or a medical provider. Medical personnel will instruct you on when to get a test. Before you leave isolation, call the testing site to ensure they’re prepared and that you don’t come into close contact with others.
You should get tested even if you do not have symptoms if you:
- Traveled out of state and did not get a test before returning to Alaska.
- Have been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
- Frequently interact with others in the community.
- Want to. That’s right! Anyone who wants to get a COVID-19 test can get one and you do not need a referral from a doctor or medical provider at most testing sites.
Stopping the spread of the virus is a community effort. It’s up to each of us to do our part. It is especially important to get tested if you live in a close-knit community. Thank you for being a good neighbor and a good Alaskan!
Testing Sites By Community
We have listed sites that offer free testing in the 16 communities we serve. You can also find sites by using the State’s Testing Sites Locator. Also, the State recommends downloading an app to your smartphone called AllClear. The app allows you to enter a location for a list of nearby testing sites.
Locations, Payment, And Hours Of Operation
Click on the links below to find a testing site near you. Some testing sites may ask for insurance or payment, if available, but all listed below provide testing regardless of ability to pay. Each testing site varies in time and some require registering or scheduling before testing. Please check with each site before visiting.
Those experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should not go into a health clinic or testing site unannounced but should isolate and call a doctor or medical provider.
