Finding Solutions to Unique Challenges

A Mortgage Loan Originator with Residential Mortgage in Soldotna, Aaron Swanson has partnered with Alaska Housing Finance Corporation for decades to identify solutions for homebuyers.

Aaron entered the mortgage industry in 1996 and says he has turned to Alaska Housing as a resource from the very beginning of his lending career – a partnership he describes as “Alaskans helping Alaskans.”

Throughout many years in the lending industry, Aaron has frequently appeared on AHFC’s Featured Lender Gold Medalist List, which recognizes lenders who closed the most Alaska Housing loans during the fiscal year. While he says it’s special to be recognized, Aaron sees his role as always finding the best solution for his client, not chasing awards.

Understanding Alaska

Aaron says that loan products like AHFC’s Rural Loan program stand out as impactful for his borrowers across the Kenai Peninsula, making transactions successful that wouldn’t have been possible with an out-of-state investor.

“Alaska properties are unique and different,” he said. “What I love about Alaska Housing is that we can call and talk to other Alaskans who understand Alaska and what it’s about. They work with us to find solutions, which you’d never be able to do with some of the big nationwide investors out there.”

Working to find the best solution to each homebuyer's unique situation is part of why Aaron says he has remained passionate about the mortgage lending industry for nearly 30 years.

“I can honestly say that I learn something new every single day and I feel a connection with my customers when I’m able to help them throughout the homebuying process,” Aaron said. “Whether it’s their starter home or their dream home it’s rewarding to be able to help people realize that goal and take that step in life.”
