Earning Money, Experience with Summer Jobs
Summer jobs are not only a way for young Alaskans to make money, they can also teach important lessons that can last a lifetime.
Alaska Housing’s Summer Student Program offers temporary work for teens and young adults.
“It does teach you what the world has to offer and what you should expect from it, as well as building a work ethic,” said a recent participant in the Summer Student Program. “It’s also cool to be able to buy something you want if you manage your money.”
Opportunities for 16-22 Year Olds
Individuals who are continuing students between the ages of 16 and 22 are eligible to apply for summer work, which can include tasks such as groundskeeping, building maintenance or office work.
Applications for the Summer Student Program are now available. Pay varies by community and starts at $14 per hour.
