Disaster Assistance Available for Juneau and Ketchikan Residents
Across Alaska’s Southeast communities, many families have been impacted by recent tragedies. Juneau experienced disastrous flooding this summer, for the second consecutive year, damaging roughly 300 homes with impacts felt across the community.
In August, a landslide in Ketchikan tragically claimed the life of Sean Griffin, a husband, father, and dedicated public works employee who was assisting his community. While Ketchikan residents are mourning this loss, they are simultaneously trying to recover from the detrimental impacts of the landslide on their homes and roads.
For Juneau and Ketchikan residents impacted by these disasters, assistance is available through the State of Alaska.
The Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is now accepting applications for State Individual Assistance and Temporary Housing programs for survivors with damages or emergency expenses resulting from the 2024 Ketchikan landslide or the 2024 Juneau Suicide Basin Flooding.
