AHFC Tenants: Advance Your Career Goals with an Education Scholarship

Each year, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation awards Education Scholarships to support renters in advancing their career goals. Scholarship awardees can receive federal assistance up to $2,500 to help them pay for their education — from technical training to college tuition. 

Who is eligible?

  • Applicants must be recipients of AHFC Public Housing rental assistance, either through an AHFC housing voucher or as a resident living in a unit owned by AHFC.

  • Adults may apply if they wish to attend a vocational, trade or academic school.

  • High school seniors may apply if they plan to attend a vocational, trade or academic school in the fall 2026 semester after graduating high school.

How can I use the scholarship? 

The educational institution awardees will attend must be located within Alaska. Funds may be used to cover tuition, books, and fees directly related to the student’s education.

Any training or academic institution recognized by the following will qualify:

How do I apply?

The application period for 2026 is open from April 13 to May 31, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Alaska Time. Along with your application, you'll need to provide:

  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A written essay (maximum 500 words)
  • Academic record
