Alaska Housing Homeowner Assistance

Program Summary
As part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, Alaska Housing Homeowner Assistance was designed to help homeowners avoid mortgage delinquencies and foreclosures. The program was supported by federal award number HAFP-0197 awarded to the State of Alaska by the US Department of the Treasury.
Approved payments were distributed by AHFC and its partners directly to Mortgage Servicers and homeowner expense and utility providers.
Homeowner Assistance Timeline in News Releases
- February 2022: AHFC announced that Alaska would receive $50 million in Homeowner Assistance under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and published Housing Assistance Fund Methodologies and Facts.
- June 2022: After reviewing applications, AHFC announced nearly 11,000 applicants would receive assistance.
- January 2023: With distribution underway, homeowner assistance funds helped Alaskans.

Alaska Housing Homeowner Assistance was only possible due to the cooperation of Mortgage Servicers. Alaska’s financial institutions led the way in getting assistance to Alaskans, including First Bank in Ketchikan. Read more below!
