Alaska Housing Capital Corporation

On April 18, 2006, the Alaska Legislature passed Senate Bill 232, which appropriated $300,000,000 from the State of Alaska general fund to Alaska Housing for the purpose of funding capital projects, including financing expenses. SB 232 further expressed the Legislature's intent that Alaska Housing transfer appropriated funds and associated earnings to a subsidiary on or after July 1, 2006. Governor Murkowski signed SB 232 into law on April 27, 2006.

In accordance with the Legislature's intent, the Alaska Housing Board of Directors approved the creation of the Alaska Housing Capital Corporation (AHCC) at Alaska Housing’s regular meeting on May 3, 2006. AHCC was incorporated on May 23, 2006, under the Alaska Nonprofit Corporation Act (AS 10.20) as a subsidiary of, but legally independent and separate from, Alaska Housing. AHCC's organizational meeting was held on June 23, 2006, and Alaska Housing transferred the appropriated funds and associated earnings to AHCC on July 1, 2006.
