Resources for Alaskans Displaced By Typhoon Halong & How To Help

AHFC is committed to connecting Alaskans with credible organizations working to assist families displaced by Typhoon Halong. We are communicating with relief agencies across the state and will share information and resources as they become available.

For Disaster Survivors

Find Immediate Shelter and/or Temporary Housing

The American Red Cross of Alaska has mobilized to provide emergency shelter and to facilitate temporary housing. Follow their Facebook page for the most recent updates or call 1-800-RED-CROSS for assistance.

Apply for State Assistance: Deadline December 9, 2025

The State of Alaska Individual Assistance Program is designed to provide financial assistance to individuals or families for damage to a primary residence, primary mode of transportation, essential personal property, and medical/funeral/dental needs created as a direct result of a declared disaster.

Disaster survivors in the designated disaster area are encouraged to apply for assistance by calling 1-844-445-7131 or visiting https://ready.alaska.gov/ia.

The deadline to apply for State Assistance is December 9, 2025.

Waitlist Preference Opens for Bethel November 5, 2025

Due to the housing emergency in Western Alaska created by Typhoon Halong, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation is instituting a disaster preference for public housing in Bethel. The preference application will be made available to qualified Alaskans who apply during the open window, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. through Nov. 14, 2025 at 5 p.m. Learn more and check your eligibility here

Apply for Federal Assistance (FEMA): Deadline December 22, 2025

Individuals and families who sustained losses in the designated areas should first file claims with their insurance providers and then apply for assistance online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling the FEMA Alaska Call Center at 1-866-342-1699 or by using the FEMA App. You can also call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET, 7 days a week. 

The deadline to apply for FEMA Assistance is December 22, 2025.

Families impacted by the recent storms in Western Alaska have access to a number of resources, including:

Inquire About Providing Temporary Housing 

As part of the State of Alaska Disaster Housing Task Force established to address immediate housing needs, AHFC is collecting information about current housing availability. If you own or manage property — or have credible, first-hand knowledge about property availability — for the purpose of facilitating immediate and/or long-term housing to disaster survivors, please email info@AlaskaHousingDisasterRelief.us.
