Alaska Sustainable Energy Corporation (ASEC)

About ASEC
The Alaska Sustainable Energy Corporation is a subsidiary non-profit corporation, legally separate from AHFC, with the mission to facilitate sustainable energy in Alaska. ASEC will look to harness federal funding opportunities to the benefits of Alaskans with a focus on partnering with private sector stakeholders and other public entities such as the Alaska Energy Authority to increase energy efficiency and resilience within the state.
The primary purpose of ASEC is to provide financing or facilitating the financing of sustainable energy development or delivering energy. Alaska Sustainable Energy Corporation and its state agency partners, including Alaska Energy Authority, may provide technical assistance to municipalities related to residential and commercial building energy codes and energy efficiency standards, and support or establish public, quasi-public, or nonprofit entities that provide financial assistance for sustainable energy development projects or delivering energy to Alaska, including community and low-income lenders and capital providers.
On July 31, 2024 Governor Dunleavy signed into law House Bill 273 amending Alaska Statute 18.56.086(a) to authorize AHFC to create a subsidiary corporation for the purpose of financing or facilitating financing of “sustainable energy development.”
